Travelogue, Part Two

Mom’s 65th birthday was the reason for the trip home. Lori helped me keep the whole thing a surprise for well over a month and we did a good job of it: Mom didn’t suspect a thing.
The family went to Boulder Junction, our “usual” family restaurant when we’re all in town or celebrating something special (i.e.: graduation, engagement, pregnancy announcement, coming out parties — you know, the usual). It was absolutely ridiculous: within 5 minutes of being seated, we all pulled out our cameras and started flashing away – it looked like the paparazzi invaded. I almost felt sorry for the other diners…almost. The reason I didn’t? So we could actually come home with photos like these.
Photo one: Lori, Mom, Me and Jenny. Lori being my sister, Mom being Mom, Me being Me and Jenny playing the part of my older brother’s girlfriend.DSCN2683 Photo two is my brother Patrick with my niece Mary, my sister Lori captured just seconds before on his camera (click on the photo to make it larger and see his display better — LOVE this photo for that part alone!) DSCN2679Next comes me, hamming it up with my nephew Sean, and finally (so as not to leave him out, of course) there’s my sis again with her husband Paul… a really wonderful guy who deserves a medal for putting up with my sister. Heh. :) Or I could just be saying that to see if she has managed to stumble across this blog yet….
DSCN2680DSCN2695Afterward, we headed home for a lovely little cake that my sister tried to kill. Mom and Lori did humor me by eating what I prepared for dinner beforehand, black bean roll-ups, and her husband Paul did me one better by actually having them as leftovers for lunch the next day. Given that was about 4 days ago now, I think I’m well past the danger of killing them with my cooking. Bonus! [Editor’s note: However…come to think of it, Lori did ask me for my SSN# not too long ago to be listed as a beneficiary should anything ever happen to her. Hmmmm….]

Cake and Lori killing cake: [Editor’s note again: Then again, one should not contemplate killing one’s sister if she can wield a knife like this. Nor, really, tease her that her husband deserves a medal for putting up with her for that matter.]

Honestly, I have no idea why I keep taking pictures of food I create. Not that I created that cake, mind y’all… that was some marvelous ice cream goodness from the Dairy Queen. But in reviewing pictures from this trip I noticed I took pictures of the bagel shoppe, the chocolate cream cheese muffin sent from above (okay, I will add that picture here. but not just because it was a muffin.

No, it was much more: it was My Favorite Muffin), DSCN2668,my black bean roll ups, chocolate brownie from Panera’s, a bowl of M&Ms… are you getting the picture here? Obsessed much am I?

Hmmm…on that note, it must be time for dinner…. :-)  Happy eating, folks!

This travelogue just made me want to get to know your family. Great pictures…but I couldn’t open up the larger version of Patrick with the camera–it’s “Private”!

Ooops! Viewable now! :)  I blame jet lag for that.
