To sleep, perchance to dream (of catching up)?
Can someone really get too much sleep? We’ve all heard that, right? “Oh, I feel so tired today – but I didn’t really do anything but rest yesterday. I must have gotten too much sleep this weekend!”
Um…yeah. I’m not buying it. The experts (you know, them guys) say you can’t “catch up on sleep” over a weekend. So if you only get 4-5 hours during the week, there’s no way to make up for it by sleeping a good 10 or 12 on the weekend. So if that’s not possible, I can’t see how someone can get too much sleep either.
All that being said, I am way too tired today and I’m blaming it on yesterday. For a St. Patty’s Day weekend, I actually didn’t get too nuts. Go figure. I was asleep both Friday and Saturday earlier than most weekends (lately) and yesterday was spent drifting in and out of naps and reading my book. I’m convinced I am just fine laying and reading my book until the cats came and curled up with me. There’s just something about warm, purring cats curled up on you that instantly brings on the zzzzzzs no matter how hard you try to resist.
Will hopefully add some St.Pat’s pix when I get home but I can’t access my photo site from work. So for now, you can go and see ‘em on my Flickr site instead. :-) (that’s that little rectangle box down bottom on the left over there)
I also meant to get up at my usual time this morning, sit on the couch, wake up with some joe. But when the alarm went off, there was no way that seemed like a good idea so I played eggplant instead. Which is similar to playing possum, but much tastier unless it’s stew. In any case, I’m really happy I didn’t now because I learned from my friend Paulie that Amazing Race was 45 minutes off schedule recording last night, meaning my sole reason for getting up and watching TV wouldn’t have been there anyway. And then I would have been pissed. Awake, probably, but pissed. [And it took me until just now that I probably could have watched BSG but, eh…it’s all good.]
My dreams lately have been a lot of fun. They’ve alternated between memories of home, continuations of life events cut short, people and things I hadn’t thought about in a long time, just a stew of all things like that. I’m sure dreams have to mean something….I mean, there’s a reason they happen, right? Could just be a subconscious dump, could be lost brain synapses finally triggering, could be something more. I don’t care what they are as long as they keep being fun.
Today’s pet peeve: when creeping along in bumper-to-bumper traffic, those fools who wickedly over exaggerate a lane change move, gunning up to slide over, move 2 feet, and have to slam on the breaks so as not to hit the car they’re pulling behind. What’s up with that? Why do people do that?
Today’s Common Errors in English Language Entry (disappointing, imho): though/thought/through: Although most of us know the differences between (editor’s note: should that not be ‘among?’) these words, people often type one of them when they mean another. Spelling checkers won’t catch this sort of slip, so look out for it.
Wow. Now there’s deep thought to kick off the week. :-p
Alright, me pretties - back to work for me! MWAH!
I wish I could say the same about my dreams. I watched both ‘The Day After Tomorrow’ and ‘The Last Days on Earth’ last night. Let’s just say my dreams were less than pleasant. I don’t know why I do that to myself.
I was hoping to see you at the hash…you almost made it.

March 19th, 2007 at 10:45 amI know! It was like: hey, there’s Martha at the start… where ARE the rest of the hashers anyway? :*) (I’m assuming still making it back from the parade that day) Screams & I were waiting on friends coming in from out of town…exercise took a back seat to waiting with a beer. We stopped and talked with Sniffy for a bit (Pull It Out and Sniff) - did ya see her cooking up a storm in there?
I saw your pictures, though - looks like it was a good time! Now that it’s getting warmer, I’ll be sure to make it out more.
March 19th, 2007 at 10:52 amNo I didn’t see her…I ran in just to pick up some cups and tried to get out ASAP. The ‘parade hasher’ didn’t begin returning until after 3.
