Lock down!

Last night, about 7:30-8pm, the call came over from 70 year-old Miss Stella across the street.  There’d been a shooting in the neighborhood, only one street over; a street connected by only another little perpendicular street.

We ran around franctically, loading guns, locking doors and pulling all blinds but the ones over the batcave where we could have view of the ’hood from the safety of a quasi-second level story.  We called friends and neighbors (this Neighborhood Watch Program ROCKS) and screamed at the ones we saw still walking their dogs: “get back inside!! NOW!”  and muted the TV so we could listen to the search ‘copter circlin’ around.

After that, we did the only thing we could do:  drank a bottle of wine and watched “Drive,” which, incidentally, is bound to become a new favorite show of mine.

I still have no idea what might have happened over on Creekside, but sheesh.  Welcome to the ‘hood!  Hopefully I’ll hear more today.

I’ve had fun telling the story today at work. :) The funny thing was that no I didn’t dream about the incident in the neighborhood at all last night. I did however dream that we were trying to win DRIVE.

HA! We would totally win DRIVE. No issues there. With the way you drive and my map skills (nevermind the Google-on-the-phone), we’d have nooooooo problem.

If we can keep our hands off some of the other racers at the pit stops, that is! :)

I remember the first time I heard gunshots on my street…I crawled quickly to the back of the house and was trying to get the dogs to follow, calling them while on the phone with 911. Now I sleep through most of these things. However, the getto bird that sounded like it was landing on my house did make me stir even after a night out at Graveyard with Cathy.

See, I haven’t ever heard gunshots (I don’t think? other than ones at a shooting range, I mean). I’m not sure that I wouldn’t freak out even more in that case.

Girl, I wish I could get to your blog from work but you’re firewalled for me! You must be writin’ some pretty juicy stuff. ;)
