Flickr no longer sucks. Flickr are made up of the coolest people Evah.
Stacy is a happy camper again.
I haven’t written in a little mainly because of my pure agony over Flickr. See, I had wanted to write all these fun lovely things, including pictures and stories and just everything you’d ever want to read in an entry! But I couldn’t get into my dumb ol’ Flickr account and I didn’t know if the “Help Box” at Flickr would ever get back to me.
Last night, I finally decided: OK, I am not going to let this keep me from journaling. If I have to, I’ll open a bunch of little itty bitty Flickries to put pictures just to link to here. And I was calmed…and life was good. And then today (after my walk around the neighborhood – 2 days in a row – woo!!) I checked my email and the gods and goddesses at Flickr sent me all the information I needed and I am BACK IN, BABY!!!
Yeah, I know. But it’s the little things in my life that get me through the day….
The only problem now is that all the clever witty entries I was going to write are now gone forever (ha! See my nice built-in excuse?) so now y’all have to put up with this one until I’m back in the groove.
Last weekend was the first weekend in a long time where I had nothing at all planned. And Memorial Day Weekend at that! So it turned into: hanging out with my roommate and friends, cooking on the grill, having some drinks, seeing old friends in town for the weekend, reconnecting with Mom, and just being carefree.
Sunday, Clarissa was in from Virginia and she and another friend, Sabrina, came over for a cookout that P1 set up. We fired up the grill (“we” meaning Phil) and cooked everything we could get our hands on: hot dogs, veggie dogs, weird whatever dogs, Bubba burgers, mojo marinated chicken, pork, veggies on skewers,
and probably a bug or two. Clarissa, Sabrina and Aron were the first wave of folks over; Julia, Ted, Georgia and Jay were next. Lila came in and out and Kenny ended up in there at some point as well. Good times. Great oldies.
We played Trivia Pursuit.
Somehow, at one point, I ended up in the lead.
No, it didn’t last…but I held my own with Aron (the Trivia Genius) and so I still hold my head up with pride. By the second round, when we decided to play teams, I was smart enough to pull him on my side.
My favorite question (that I pulled out of my ass, frankly) was the pink that Georgia asked, “who loves her more than Jesus knows?” Now, I was playing on teams with Aron at the time and I knew knew KNEW that was a song….the others probably gave me more time than I deserved on that, but then, we were drinking beers and so we were all being kind. Eventually, like I said, I pulled it out. Anyone else know? Come on…you do. And you can tell me. Come on.
Heh, I know that song, and I even remember that Trivial Pursuit card. That’s an orange question, so it wouldn’t be a Bible question, per se. (Bible would be brown, or maybe yellow, I think.)
And, it helps if you’re a S&G fan or have seen The Graduate.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:08 pmPink. Right. Orange was geography.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:09 pmAnd, as long as I’m replying to my own replies,
I think it was worded a little more closer to “Who does Jesus love more than she will know”.
May 30th, 2007 at 5:11 pmYes, it was pink. Entertainement. And, no, orange is not Geography. Blue is Geography…which is why I always take that pie (y’know, that whole crazy map thing!). Orange is Sports and Leisure, I think. Every once in a while, I can get one of those, but not as often as I’d like.
And, yes, you got it. :-) I have never seen The Graduate (only in bits and parts, actually), but I’ve always been a S&G Fan. Guess I’m more old school (read:”older”) than I like to think I am. ;-)
May 30th, 2007 at 5:33 pmAlso..you’re right. Bible can be either brown or yellow…have seen it in both, depending if it was literature (the former) or history (the latter).
Okay– ever play in teams again when you and I are in the same room? We are SO partners!
May 30th, 2007 at 5:35 pmWoh-woh-woh!
May 30th, 2007 at 6:11 pm@Elizabeth: I know…doesn’t take much to make me happy, does it? ;-)
May 30th, 2007 at 6:20 pmDarn it, I knew that.
Blue = Geography
Yellow = History
Pink = Entertainment
Green = Science and Nature
Brown = Literature
Orange = Sports and Leisure
My strongest category is green, of course - though I do OK in brown, blue, yellow, pink, and… best to find someone else for orange. Or hope for multiple choice.
I wonder, though - it’s been years since I’ve played the old “Genus I” questions; I wonder how much movie trivia I’ve picked up in that time.
May 30th, 2007 at 9:02 pmI’m enjoying playing Genus I again and it really is crazy how outdated the questions are! There are a lot about “the Soviet Union”… and when you answer “Russia,” you sometimes have to plead your case with the other players that that’s what you meant. :-)
