Poor little buckethead.

I’ll have better pictures of the poor pup later - this had to be taken with the phone because I when I brought the camera over I’d forgotten the little adaptor to upload the photos to their computer (with mine at home I don’t need the adaptor thing).

I guess I know how a new mother feels now; the entire night last night was spent with my ears half open, listening for Stella and how she was doing.  I purposely slept in the living room with her until she fell asleep.  At about 2am, I moved to my room only to hear her again at about 3:30, so I went back to the living room and curled up with her.  She went back to sleep.   When I heard her whining again this morning, I figured 6:45 am was close enough to when she was due her next round of pain killers (8am).

I tell you folks: pill pockets are the best invention ever when having to give animals medicine!  Remember having to shove little pills down your pets throats growing up?  Yeah, now you just envelope them in this little treat instead.  Brilliant.  Stella’s learned how to put her entire bucket down around her water and food bowls to eat and drink, so I think she’ll be OK there too.  It’s just she keeps following me around so pathetically and it makes me want to sit in one place all day long so she stops going through the effort!  She even climbed down the stairs to join me here in the basement at the computer - poor li’l thing.  She’s a real trooper, she is!

The people at Pets are People, Too, were much nicer last night when we went to get her.  It still doesn’t make me any less angry at the folks there during the day, but it was nice that they actually seemed to care a little more.  Jay and Georgia hung out with me a while and we watched “Men in Black 2″ on TV while keeping an eye on her.  It nixed my original plans of going out last night, but that’s OK.  Because of that, I also didn’t wake up hung over today.  So I guess I have Stella to thank for that too. :)

I’m not sure what the rest of the weekend holds.  I’m probably just going to hang around the house again today to make sure she’s OK.  I’m supposed to be in the parade tomorrow and still want to do that, but I’ll see how she’s doing.  I’m not looking forward to leaving her home all day again when I go back to work on Monday, but I’m sure she’ll be fine.  She’s learning to “walk” on her paw a little more and this morning I found this huge plank of wood in the basement that I’m going to try dragging outside to put over the stairs so she has a ramp to walk up and down instead of having to maneuver the stairs in and out of the house.   As I’ve already told a friend, it’s going to be quite amusing, me trying to maneuver this thing out of the house.  But luckily I’m at the end of a secluded road so when I hit myself in the head a few times with it trying to do it, no one will be able to see me to mock me.  Well, except Stella, and I’ll just keep her medicated.  ;)

You can always bring her over here on Monday the 3 gimps can spend the day together. I twisted my knee attempting to do a Darkside last night so now my weekend is pretty much shot. I might even try to work from home a few days next week if it isn’t any better (it doesn’t hurt, just really tender and I can’t put much weight on it or straighten out my leg).

Go on out for a bit, she will just spend the day sleeping. She will be fine.

oh honey, I’m so sorry - I just started reading your blog when this came in. First of all: congrats on doing the Darkside! But so sorry you hurt yourself.

Ah, but what’s a hash without a hash injury anyway? You know it’s a good hash if you bleed or are in traction afterward. :)

And people wonder why I don’t own pets or run Darksides…

It’s my friends Amy’s and Leah’s - the one who are first listed under “Places I Go” over there on the left. :) Only thing that would keep me from going is the doggie, but I think she’ll be just fine!

    Where will you be?

I used to march with the Episcopalians, but I think I’m going to be on the sidewalk near North Ave. this year with my camera.
