Pride!
And joy!
Today, as I was trying to take little lathargic Stella for a nice walk (and she pepped up!), I ran into the neighbors who were on the trip with my friends. They came back after one week; just got home. They asked what happened to poor little buckethead and after talking for a while, offered to look after her this afternoon if I needed to go do anything. Joy!
I slapped some makeup on and ran over to my home to say hello to the kids and took off. I was too late for the parade, unfortunately, but was not too late to meet up with my friends. And oh! Do I have the pictures! :) Again, though…gotta wait until I get back home to get them uploaded.
I met Dee and Brian and Phil at Brian’s place in Midtown where we had a beer and a couple of vodka pineapple shots (for stamina, you see) and then we headed to the park. I was also simultaneously text-messaging my friends Steve and Georgia, trying to figure out where to meet up. When my crowd got into the park we were on one mission: Food! And on the way to food, Phil noticed the other crowd: Steve, Sue, Georgia, Jay and then Friar - Matt? - can’t remember his non-hash name. They were waiting at an ATM and so I stopped to talk with them, ignoring that burning desire for food. So when Steve mentioned, “hey, we’re going to go walk to Joe’s and eat,” I was so on board.
We spotted friends on the way. P’diddy was strollin’ along without his shirt and we tried to flag him down, Georgia going as far as jumping over bushes and everything, but we couldn’t catch up with him. We did run into Sim, however, who told us we had just missed Queen Cobra somehow. Huh. And usually he stands out in a crowd. :) Slowly but surely we made our way through the park and past many a frozen-chocolate-banana stand that still intrigues me. A nice little stroll to Joe’s we had and we waited for a table with beers in hand, talking to folks strolling by. We sat down and consumed the BEST NACHOES EVER (or maybe we were just realllly hungry) while waiting for dinner. At the same time, Phil and Brian (the ones I left earlier, telling them, of course, where I was) text me asking if we were still there. So they showed up, sans poor little Dee who was completely wiped out. We hung out for a while, and then walked back to our cars.
It was a very fun day! Totally unexpected, given I figured I’d be home with Miss Stella, and not anything like I had planned the whole weekend long. But I’m happy I was able to make it out for just a little bit and happy to see Stella all happy and bouncy when I got home, having been able to play with the neighbor Scott’s dog all day. I just gave her her medicine and now I’m going to relax myself and watch a silly movie on TV in about an hour and get ready for tomorrow.
They couldn’t get her to eat either, actually. I think she’s playing that for what it’s worth actually. :) She knows now if she refuses her pills they get wrapped in ham instead. Smart puppy! But she’s drinking water and going back to the doc in a couple of days and I feel so much better about that.
Still enjoying being here but I’m looking forward to getting back to my normal routine again too! And as soon as I do? Pictures galore! :)
MWAH, my friends! Stacy’s going to head off tonight feeling good again. :)
