You’ve got [sic] to be kidding me!

Posted in: Uncategorized

Okay, so it’s been a good 4th all in all…but I have some issues.  Go figure: girls always have issues, right?  But bear with me while I go through just one of them:

Wearing a sport kilt does not give anyone the right to flip it up.   What the hell? I mean, really folks!  So, I did the Peachtree Pub Crawl this past Wednesday with the hash group and, as like last year, wore my little sport kilt that my dear friend (currently deployed in Iraq) got for me as a birthday gift.  Last year, I wore it like you’re supposed to.  This year I was not that stupid.

Explain to me why guys will not lift up a girl’s skirt at any other time, but if she’s wearing a kilt, they think it’s their right to flip it up and see if she’s wearing anything underneath? Or, worse yet, hold their camera under her when she’s not realizing it to take a picture?  I got ugly with folks who did this to me this year — and rightfully so, in my opinion.  These were not good friends of mine; these were guys I see once or twice a year at hash/running functions.  If friends of mine did it (discreetly!), it would have given me a chuckle.  But seriously.  SERIOUSLY.  I even asked: how would YOU like it if I just depanted you right now?!  Does being in the hash mean that I can get my private parts shown to whomever against my knowledge just because I’m a hasher?  If so, I’m not going to hash anymore.

Some of y’all might think I’m being too sensitive. Okay.  If we were at a purely hash function, I probably wouldn’t have cared as much.  But even then, if you only see me once or twice a year, do not even think you have the right to expose me without my cooperation.  Get that?  Good. :)    I’m too much of a lady to slap anyone (though if any of these folks did it twice, I would have), but I don’t think I would have been in the wrong if I had.

It’s the same thing as if you’re wearing a hat.  Whether you’re a woman wearing a cute little stylish hat or a guy trying to hide last night’s hat hair or your bald spot — why does anyone think it’s their right to take that hat off of you?  Would you think to take off their SHIRT? Or their SHOES?  No.  So why is it okay to pull off someone’s hat, or flip up their skirt in a public place, or anything of that kind of sort?

I sound angry…I guess a little I am. But I’m more confused than anything!!

Well sweety if I would’ve known about this, I probably wouldve laughed with you and then slapt them seeing as I’m not too much of a lady, LOL. Just remember I know this guy, that knows this guy if you change your mind.

Aww, thanks Colonel! Yeah, what’s crazy is it was more than one person too. :) At least when I mentioned how annoyed I was, they stopped. If they hadn’t, oh yeah they would have been smacked.

A lot of inappropriate behavior is accepted, all in the name of the Hash. Some times it does go too far and then everyone wonders why there aren’t more women showing up.

Usually stop when you tell them to but some girls are too shy/nice to say anything. I’ve bend back a lot of fingers on hands that were placed where they shouldn’t be placed.

You’re right Martha - and I’ve probably been guilty of that in the past (being “too nice” about it). I’m sick of that too — even more tired when THEY act like you’re in the wrong, or prude, or whatever for not accepting it.

Like I said…in these cases, at least the men involved were pretty respectful. I think it’s also a matter of when and where you are. At a hash campout I’ll tolerate things much more than running down a public street.
