Songs dictate the entry

I’m sitting on the back porch trying to multi-task.  For once, it’s not a work thing — though I do have to admit that I also have work email up as well and have responded and written once or twice.  Damn work ethic and all.

We have the “80’s music” from Comcast playing and dear roommie has one of these speaker things that lets me listen to it outside as well.  I have been really surprised at how many played are ones that I also have on my iPod, which has been on stand-by just in case.  “Eye in the Sky,” “Lawyers in Love,” “For Your Eyes Only,” — all those silly 80s tunes.  And now “We Are the World” is playing, which was the “graduation from grade school song.”

When we graduated from our private grade school, the class voted on a song from that time that would actually apply as well.  1984: our song. I don’t remember my brothers’ songs, but I do still remember my sister’s when she graduated in 1989: “Forever Young,” by Rod Stewart.  Why I remember that, I have no idea.

Funny: as I’m sitting here writing about this, roommie showed up in the doorway, lip-synching the words with me. Bless!  He has no idea I was writing about it at the same time, so hopefully he’ll get a chuckle out of it when he’s reading this now.

Folks: gotta come clean with you.  I can still hear him singing out loud in there. But that’s not what I was about to come clean about.  It’s that I’m a bit tipsy right now.  Stacy + no food + just a couple of innocent little beers = tipsy.  And it means I should stop writing because whenever I read my tipsy blogs the next day I end up deleting them. [Yup, P2, that’s the real reason they go away!]  In addition to the couple of enjoyable beers this afternoon, I also had the pleasure of messaging with my friends (acquaintences?) Wes and Sue as well as helping my pasty-white skin get a little color complements of the glorious deep southern sun.  I can’t imagine what I’d have to complain about right now.

Oh. Except for the next song that just came on: “Hip to be Square,” by Huey Lewis and the News.  Pardon me while I sign off and get a little sick now.  ;-)
