The right team won!

Good Lord, no!  Not the football game  :( …The Amazing Race.

The team I wanted to win ended up taking it all in The Amazing Race, and among the three teams, they were the ones I wanted.  I’ve actually liked them for some time now – they are SO SWEET! –so rock on with your bad selves, ya little potheads.     What I do wish they would do with this show is some sort of reunion or talk more with all the teams at the end instead of just giving us a glimpse of them standing around. Ah well.

Our lucky cheese was not so lucky afterall.  Optimistic before the start...

As for The Game, it was our own darn fault we lost that thing.   I almost called in “Depressed” today but then figured there was something really wrong with calling in depressed about a football game on MLK Jr. Day.    Really, it’s actually very wrong having to work on MLK Day (is anyone else out there working??), but if I’m going to be totally honest, I’d probably have treated it like a “day off” as opposed to doing any kind of service for my community.  In that regard, I wouldn’t have deserved it.  To all y’all out making a bit of difference today: my hat’s off to you.  Well done!

One (er, the ONLY good thing) about the Packers not being in the Super Bowl is that I don’t have to take a vacation day for the next day (which I would have).  I’m not even sure I care to watch the game.   If I do, it will only because I’d  venture out to my friend Paulie’s annual Super Bowl party.   Right now I’d just rather hibernate until August preseason begins again.

A great day this weekend was Saturday when we got a beautiful little bit of snowfall.  Georgia called from down the road asking if we should make the day a “snowday” and, naturally, we thought that was the most brilliant idea we’ve ever heard.  She came up to the house bearing black Hefty sacks full of board games and vanilla vodka and we played this really cool game where you try to guess what the other players would respond to questions. Phil and Georgia  Yup, even with that photo, I can’t remember the name of the game.    But, man, this girl has got the best games ever – she always does.  I think there needs to be “snowdays” more often in the ‘hood.

After a few rounds of the game, we happened to either hear or see all sorts of neighborhood folks outside: chatting with each other, walking their dogs – and even some kids in the neighborhood making a snowman on our lawn!  Naturally, that meant dashing out to take some photos…and Georgia dashing back down the street for Marsha parts.  Miss Georgia and  Miss Marsha Yes, Marsha came back out to play once again, this time in form of a snowman.  And, for the first time ever, her bust had…well, a bust!  Unfortunately for her, it didn’t quite last as she was brought back in to de-thaw and we let the kids build a real snowman on the lawn.

Today, I’m just pooped!   I think I need a break: it’s hibernation time for Miss Stae.  I did a bunch of cleaning out this weekend (stuff all set to go to the Good Will – woo!) and a stack of books to curl up with.  My, I do so love this library place where you can borrow books for, get this: free!  (I know! Crazy, right?)  Some of my favorite shows are back or coming back (Medium, Big Brother, Torchwood, Lost) and I’m just liking the idea of doing little more than working, hitting the gym, and being a homebody until it warms up again.   Let’s see how this is going to work, shall we?  J

If I’d have remembered the “less traffic” part, I may have slept in a little more. I’m wondering where I can go for a nap at lunch….
