Monday morning ramblings

There should be more flowers.  There should always be more flowers in my home!  These little guys light up the dining room right now.  After I move, I think I’m going to try to keep flowers around more often, if only in my room if nowhere else.  They continuously make me smile.  Boys? Buy me flowers.   I will never be one of those girls who hate getting flowers.

Good Monday, folks!  It’s early and I’m in a great mood.  Directly from work tonight my good friend CL is going to bless me with a massage.  Oh. I. Cannot. Wait!  It’s been well over a year (two?) since I’ve had a massage and I really need one.  I’m going to be jello (watch me wiggle…see me jiggle…) come about 7pm tonight.  It’s always amusing driving home from her place in my post-massage drunken stupor; thank God she only lives but a few miles away.

For now, anyway.  But a week from now I will have woken up in my new home and, not thinking about the packing I still have to do (ugh!), I am most excited.   I’ll have a much nicer commute to work, a cozy upstairs bedroom, garage space (!) and a darling new roommate who I’m counting on to get me into keep me out of trouble.   You know, I haven’t had a garage in quite some time and, folks, it is crazy the difference a garage (or even carport space) makes sometimes!  Last week when my current roommie was on vacation, I used the garage a couple of times – particularly the evening of the tornado warnings – and even though it’s not wicked cold out, the difference in the car temperature in the morning was crazy.   Granted, in two weeks time, that will be moot and I’d be happy to park outdoors again where the sun can warm the black interior.  But just the idea of it makes me grin.

Everything’s making me grin these days!

Of course, speaking of garages, current Roomie has to put up with the slew of boxes, bubble wrap and peanuts I have down there in his  (only for another few days - promise!).   Lemme tell you, folks:  Craigslist kinda rocks.  And by kinda I mean really.  Late last week someone not but a few exits away from where I live posted about having free packing materials and wham! Now they’re mine.  This woman was so very nice and had more than enough for me – good stuff from the Container Store, Uhaul and places like that.  If anyone wants them after this weekend, holla at me!  Otherwise I’m Craigslisting them right on back.

To pick them up, I borrowed my friend Bob’s BarneyMobile – a big ol’ purple Dodge mini-vanthe barney mobile.  As I’m used to driving a sports car, this truly was my Birth Control check.  J  That and car flirting (which, incidentally, is as natural as breathing to me) was completely non-existent  — how do you folks do this?  Well, I mean, I do reckon most of y’all driving mini-vans are not ones to car flirt in the first place, but it was surely different for me.  I’m not *knocking* the mini-van, mind you: it was SO convenient and easy to drive.  I’m just saying that I think I’ll stick to my little ol’ car for a while longer.

My little ol’ car… who turned the 100,000 mile mark on the way to work this morning!  Yay little car!  She’s still got a lot of oomph left in her, too: hopefully she’ll be around for at least another half of that.  Unfortunately, I was driving about 75mph on 75 north at the time, so the closest camera photo I got was this: miles  Oh well.  Close enough.

And on that note, y’all go on off and have yourselves some fabulous Mondays and I’ll catch you soon!

  2. Stacy Says:

Yes, sir! The great House of the Boobs has so graciously accepted me into her abode (crazy girl!). Will still have to try to convince Screams to have fire pit parties though. :-)

Hopefully she’ll get my butt in gear and out hashing more - maybe I’ll see you more often!

Paulie - yup! But don’t think it’s gonna keep me from mooching theater tickets off ya (or, on the flip side, still going to Thrashers games with yas)! I’ll just be crashing in your spare room more often is all. ;-)
