Something’s telling me to start hashing again….

the happiest cup of coffee ever Gooooooooooooooooooooood morning!!!  Don’t you sometimes just hate happy morning people coffee cups?

my boyIn its defense, it’s working overtime to make up for the sadness of My Boy on this week’s SI…*sigh*… no, no.  I will NOT go there.  I’m going to go back up to — oh yeah, there it is.  The smiley happy face coffee.  Ah, sweet denial, I call thee mine!

Yesterday the hash was everywhere in my life.  Well, except an actual hash that is (and on that note? I swear! The next S0B, I am SO THERE!).  First, it started with an introduction to Hash Space, sort of a MySpace for Hashers, from my friend Stacy, er Pumptkin for you hasher types.   What a fun idea!  (Even if the “Sex Degrees of Hash Separation” is not something I even care to want to explore!)  Second, I stopped at the gym after work only to be approached on my way out by the woman parked behind me.  She saw the On-On foot lilfoot on my car and asked me if I did the hashing because she had a friend who did.  As she paused sweetly to try to remember the name, I wondered which of you crazy hashers it would be… and if she would remember it correctly.  Sure enough, she produced “Canucklehead” from somewhere back in her memory.   Fun!  Her name was Michelle and I told her she just really needed to give it a go sometime again and she seemed interested; and we chatted a little, she asked me how I managed to get my name and all.  *grin*  Ah… the hash.  Bringing crazy folks together for over a hundred years now.

I know I had promised a recap of the play last Friday, but I think Paulie did well.  Tess Kincaid, who played the comic foil Julie play, was just absolutely phenomenal. But, honestly? Also much needed in this play.  If it hadn’t been for her performance, I’m not sure I’d have liked it as much.  This play is what it is:  by definition, theater is art, right?  So it’s not too much a surprise that it’s very liberally slanted and that you repeatedly get hit over the head with the glaring theme of the hypocrisy of the Religious Right.  Uh-huh.  I get it.  (And here my aggravation did not come in being a conservative so much as being intelligent.  I don’t need a dozen cracks to understand your point.  Besides: it was more the religious aspect than the conservative aspect of politics that was explored – and it was dead on in a lot of places and incredibly powerful and uncomfortable in that make-you-think kind of way.)  The Julie character was the only one that made the message seem funny instead of a condemnation as she played a totally unapologetic, alcohol-swigging, waffling conservative who didn’t seem to understand her own hypocritical actions as she chastised others for theirs.  It was brilliant.

I really wish I could remember one part of the play that had us both laugh out loud, though:  something about a bearded man.  I glanced sideways at (bearded) Paulie at that point and we both laughed (okay, kinda snorted) out loud.   ITP, do you remember what that was all about?

Alright, on those notes, kids, I’m going to start working today.  Happy smiley coffee mug or sad weepy Brett Favre Thursdays to you – whichever you prefer today. I’m going with the happy coffee face myself which, loookee there! Needs a refill….

  2. Stacy Says:
