Oh so this is how it’s going to be, is it? Well I refuse to let anything get me down today.
I have…wait for it… not only a date this weekend, but TWO dates this weekend. Considering that’s more than I’ve had in, oh, two years? I’m a bit excited, I must say. Last night, I spoke with both of the gentlemen (we’re giving them both the benefit of the doubt at this stage) :) I’ll be seeing and I’m really excited for the weekend to get here now.
Gentleman 1, who we’ll call P. (since I don’t nearly have enough male friends whose names start with “P” already) is a friend of a friend. She thought we’d hit it off and, on initial phone call, I’m thinking she might be quite right. He seemed really down to earth and laughed at my silly jokes (always a plus, guys. especially if you can make the laughter sound authentic). We agreed to meet up for a drink on Friday night and kept the conversation short — which was VERY nice. I’m not a big “phone person” and would much rather talk face-to-face over a beer than on the phone.
That being said, Gentleman 2, who we’ll call A., called next…and the next thing I knew, it was 2 hours later. I met A. last weekend at an 80’s party I went to with my friend Julia. (yup, here’s me rocking out as a 80s hair band groupie
) I had just read a great chick-lit book (I know! And I’m admitting it?), so I played the fun, confident woman card and found him before I left to give him my business card — something I don’t think I’ve ever done before. Thankfully, he didn’t take it as the cheesy gesture it really was and actually used it. So now we’re going out on Saturday and perhaps Sunday to the hash (if I don’t chicken out. Someone did remind me that I’d have to explain Dr. Doo-Doo to him) ;-)

D’oh! Here’s where life gains a point because I am screwed. I wear gas permeables — which means there’s not just a convenient extra pack to rip into for replacement. I am blind without my contacts and am too vain to wear glasses. (Okay, not really on the second part. I just don’t have a pair I like to wear out of the house - I need a new script) So what do I do? The only thing I can do… find a pair of backup soft ones that I got the last time I lost a contact. Oh, but they’re green. Like, really green.
My eyes are green already, but not this shade of green. I have a nice olive, army kind of green shade typically. Today? An obnoxious emerald not found in nature. Why do I have them? I don’t know. I’m glad I DO since I’d be, well, blind today if not. And even though I can’t get into the eye doctor until Wednesday, I’m not going to let it ruin my happiness about this upcoming weekend. I’ll have to wear obnoxious green contacts on my dates this weekend…. but I’ll be wearing them on DATES this weekend. :-)

I am unfamiliar with these things called “dates” of which you speak.
You active social schedule must be the explanation for the lack of comments on my blog? :P
Good luck!
May 14th, 2008 at 8:30 amThanks for the luck! I, too, have no idea what these “dates” things are…I’m excited to find out this weekend.
More commenting on your blog to come! Unfortunately, I can’t blame it on an active social life; it’s more really been a way-too-active work week! :( I will get back to slacking off so I can comment more again very soon! (I do still read you every day) :)
May 14th, 2008 at 9:39 amCongrats on having 2 dates, because as they say, you either have nothing going on, or too much going on.
May 15th, 2008 at 6:05 amYeah, no kidding! I prefer the too much right now. :)
Funny, too: coworkers overheard that I had dates this weekend, so they threw guy #3. - G. - into the mix. I have his # and email and they gave him a heads up that I’ll be contacting him.
And, yes, okay, I like that idea much. But I think I’m going to try to make it through this weekend first. :)
